Folderstream is developed by grok. This policy explains how the app handles data when you use it on macOS.
Summary
Folderstream is designed to browse media libraries stored in folders you choose. In normal use, your photos and videos remain on your device and in the folders you selected.
Folderstream is for the user and the user's own library. The app does not track you, does not run analytics, and does not build an advertising or marketing profile around your usage.
Information Folderstream accesses
The app may access files, folders, and related metadata from locations you explicitly choose, such as a photo library folder. This access is used to display, browse, and play your media.
How access is granted
Folderstream uses standard macOS file access permissions. Access is limited to folders you explicitly select. If the app remembers a folder between launches, it may store a security-scoped bookmark locally on your device so it can reopen that same folder later.
Your library stays yours
Folderstream is built around user-selected folders. It uses macOS sandbox permissions so it can only access folders you explicitly choose.
The selected library may be restored using a security-scoped bookmark saved locally in
UserDefaults, so you can reopen the same folder later without converting it into a separate library
format.
In normal use, your files remain in their existing folders instead of being imported into a proprietary library package. Folderstream does not reorganize your library for you, does not write tracking data into it, and does not depend on a hidden cloud-backed catalog.
Data collection
Folderstream does not require user accounts. It is not designed around uploading your library to our servers. No tracking is performed by the app, and no analytics SDKs or advertising systems are used in normal operation.
If the app does not transmit personal data off-device during your use, then no personal data is collected by grok through normal operation of the app. Any information you choose to send directly to us, such as support email, is separate from app usage itself.
Local network features
If you enable local network sharing features such as DLNA, the app may make selected media available to compatible devices on your local network. This activity is initiated by you and is limited to the local network environment you choose to use.
Data storage
App settings and remembered folder access may be stored locally on your device. Folderstream is not intended to create a proprietary cloud library for your media.
Third-party services
Folderstream does not use analytics or advertising services in normal operation. If a future version adds analytics, crash reporting, cloud sync, or other external services, this policy should be updated before those practices go live.
Your choices
You can stop using a folder with Folderstream by removing that folder from the app or revoking file access in macOS where applicable. You can also uninstall the app at any time.
